Amelie Goetzl (*1991) studied painting and printing techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna as well as Fashion Design at the University of Art and Design Linz. In her interdisciplinary practice, her focus lies on materiality and surface. The connecting element is usually textile, either as the medium itself or as part of a multimedia process. In her recent works she often uses reversible sequins, linking her affinity for material to the most fundamental technique — drawing. In this case, drawing occurs through touch: like a pen on paper, the finger glides across the fabric and takes on a life of its own. During her intuitive process music strongly influences her - especially in her sewn paper works, which are titled after the songs she was listening while creating them.
