This series moves beyond the strict square grid of 5 × 5 sub-squares by combining the base squares into double blocks, resulting in a single central opening that remains as a final resolving element.
The twelve tertiary colors are based on the Itten color wheel and follow it in a clockwise direction, with every second adjacent color being skipped.
The work aims to resolve several compositional tensions in a constructive way: the contrast of color in itself, the light–dark contrast, and the contrast of quantity.
