Darja Shatalova is a multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on the structuralization and systematization of data, capturing both environmental phenomena and personal microcosms. Through a continuous recording process, she creates multi-layered, coded expressions composed of symbols, mathematical signs, color codes, and categorizations, which serve as tools for analysis and pattern recognition. The data, meticulously documented as graphic notes in her artist's books, is transformed into site-specific installations, long-term performances, and sound compositions, with the transformative process forming a central element of her creative practice.

Darja Shatalova has exhibited widely in Austria, including at Kunstraum Niederösterreich Vienna, Taxispalais Kunsthalle Tirol Innsbruck, Künstlerhaus, Bildraum 07, and Sotheby's Vienna, among others. She has also participated in the Parallel Vienna art fair on multiple occasions. Internationally, her work has been shown in cities such as Zurich, Berlin, Porto, Mexico City, Barcelona, Aarhus, Oaxaca de Juárez, and New York City. Her works and artist's books are part of prestigious collections, including the Wien Museum Collection, the Artothek des Bundes, and numerous libraries both in Austria and abroad.

Shatalova has been honored with several awards and grants, such as the Starting Grant for Fine Arts from the BMKOES (2019), the Working Grant from the BMBWF (2020), the On the Road Again Grant from the BMEIA (2022), and the Free Away Artist-in-Residence Grant from the BMKOES (2025).
